Katherine Tunning
Speech Language Pathologist

Katherine received her BS in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from The University of Texas at Dallas in Dallas, TX in the December of 2004. She began working for Robertson County Special Services as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant while she pursued her MS in Speech-Language Pathology at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX.  She completed her MS in August 2008.  Katherine graduated with a focus in speech and language intervention in the public-school settings. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency from ASHA. She left the public-school setting in 2012 to pursue her interest with dysphagia and cognitive therapy and have more time with her family. She worked in a variety of settings to include skilled nursing, acute care, inpatient rehab, LTAC, outpatient therapy, and home health. She has sense returned to serve children in the public-school setting where it all began.

Katherine’s clinical experiences include: Providing services to individuals from birth to age 100+ and evaluating and treating individuals with a variety of disorders including: feeding and swallowing disorders with NICU and adults, articulation disorders, language disorders, voice impairment, fluency disorders, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Vocal Cord Dysfunction, Autism Spectrum Disorders, hearing impairments, Cerebral Palsy, prematurity, reflux, G tube feedings, Central Auditory Processing Disorder, sensory issues, aphasia, Down Syndrome, stroke, dementia, head/neck/throat cancer, esophageal dysfunction, apraxia, literacy, intellectual disabilities, augmentative and alternative communication, cleft palate, and velopharyngeal incompetency.

Katherine has had the opportunity to coteach with general education teachers through the Language In the Classroom (LINC) and Ready Body Learning Minds programs. She feels strongly that collaboration with teachers, administration and other related services is crucial for a child’s success. She currently serves Hearne school district.

She has a unique understanding and appreciation being a parent of a child with apraxia of speech, as well as a reading impairment.  Katherine lives in Montgomery, TX with her husband and blended family (6 boys and 2 girls).  Katherine spends her time with her 4 children who are still at home and husband who are very involved in a wide range of sports and activities.  She enjoys archery, billiards and camping when there is time.
