Collaboration in the IEP Environment - Module 1
This 10-hour online course, is an online adaptation of a 12-hour "live" program, focuses on conflict prevention and resolution and is a part of a curriculum on collaboration in the IEP environment developed by Nicholas Martin. It is intended as a self-study for special education professionals who participate in the development and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for children with special needs. This skills-based training is based on Nicholas Martin's book, A Guide to Collaboration for IEP Teams (2004, Brookes Publishing), and explores the following topics: frequently voiced concerns of parents principled negotiation as a bridge to consensus communication pitfalls of school professionals saying no without losing friends working with advocates conflict resolution skills. About the course trainer: Nicholas Martin, MA, is a conflict resolution specialist who brings extensive experience in mediation, facilitation, and training from a wide variety of settings and applications. With a background in clinical psychology, he has in recent years increasingly focused on team building and conflict prevention in special education. This is offered through Region 20.
